pwned like a n00b

I got pummeled last night.
I had an incredible cold run.
I started playing a freeroll, getting sucked out with twice to kill me (they sucked into Broadway each time).
Then I played my bread and butter, 6-max $25 NL and my cold spell continued. I'd flop top two pair when they flopped a set. I flopped a flush as the BB and the limping SB flopped the nut flush. My Q/Q flopped a set and the villain turned a set of Kings. I made the nut straight several times and each time they flushed. My A/A was cracked 2/3 times I got it (once I was called by Q/4s who made trip 4's on the turn), and the third time I just took the blinds. Ditto with K/K.

I lost 7.5 buy-ins last night, losing in all six tables I played. I don't think I've ever lost on six tables in a row before, and more than doubled my record daily loss.

Looking back on my stats, yeah, I had some bad luck, but I made a lot of over-aggressive mistakes. There were hands that I could have gotten away from. Looking back, I think steam was responsible for close to half my loss.

I mean, I was all ready to go through and list a million brutal beats, but a lot of times I had "Why did I do that?" moments. I kept trying to bluff and I just couldn't drop *any* hand better than two pair.

Anyway, I'm thinking that I need to take a break from poker, and come back when I'm hungry. I've been running so good lately that a stumble like this was inevitable, and I think I need to wait until I'm ready to grind. HOWEVER, I have a 1st, 2nd, and 1st the past three weeks in the CardsChat Thursday tournament, and I'd like to try to keep my streak alive. Also, if I don't hit that, I think there's a soft game at a local bar that people are tying to get me to play in. So maybe a live game where I have reads on most people will be a welcome change?
