Sick

Not any sick beats or anything, I'm ill. I have a cold.
1) I had to sit out twice because I gambled on a fart and lost both times. The good news is that I had junky hands while I was changing.
2) In the last-man-standing game I played with people from CardsChat, I had $1,000 left in an unchallenged pot and the BB sitting out. I shoved from the button with any two cards... 7/4s. The SB had $1,500 and called with K/J, felting me. Oh well. It was the right move and bad luck that he had a hand.
3) I played a 205 fpp hyper turbo and won. I'm 3/3 in those, but got euber-lucky. I mean, look at that flop:

4) I played a $10 DoN and won. Nothing special there.

I'm off to bed now.

Eh.

I played a couple DoN's, and lost both.
Feh.

Shoved into an unchallenged pot on the button with A/9 with $1,100 chips and $100/$200 and was called by the SB who had A/K. Similar on the other table.

This hand gave me hope... When he called I said, "I hope he has a small pair like 4/4... 2/2! No, how'bout K/J! Yeah, K/J please!"

I defeat the flop from hell.

I have been playing half hearted in the bigger $2 tournaments. Not much to report there. I don't remember.... oh... yest I do remember how I went out. I had Q/J clubs, limped, and called a raise. The flop was K/Q/x with two clubs, so I had a Royal Flush draw. I shoved against a CC'er and she had the Ace and called. I failed to hit a club and was eliminated.
I was short stacked, and I played it terribly pre-flop, but oh well.

Kicking the rust off the o'l blog.

Long time no see.
I've been playing some nightly $2.20, 90-man tournaments with a $1 last-man-standing pool between some friends. I've wont the 90 player tournament once, cashed a second time, and last night I bubbled but won the $6 last-man-standing pool.

I played tonight and was out early. I'd put Lost on hold, so I was able to watch the rest of it.

After that I played two sessions of 2 $10 Double-or-Nothing (turbo) games.
I cashed on 3/4.

I *knew8 I was doomed on this hand when I saw that he flopped an open-ended straight draw. I just knew it.

But it held! Sweet.

The hand I lost with, I had something like $900 with $200 blinds and I shoved as the SB vs the $1,200 stacked BB, my 6/9 vs his K/J. I flopped the 6 which got my hopes up, but he Jacked the river. Oh well. That's poker. I made the right move.

So it was a good day in the end.

Oh, I played a really short one-table session of $50 NL 6-max. I won a few bucks. I was comfortable, though I felt myself slipping. I think I'd keep myself more honest with more tables.

I'm starting to get back into a solid routine in real life, so maybe I'll get serious about poker again. I mean, if I don't it's not a tragedy. As long as I'm enjoying it and it's not costing me $ I'm cool with whatever I do.

Quick because it's late

I haven't posted in awhile.

I played my 10th $10 DoN game after my 9 game winning streak, and lost pretty bad.
Then I played a couple $20 DoN's after my perfect 5-for-5 record, and lost them both pretty bad.

Lately I've been playing some $2, $90 player S&G with friends. We have a $1 last longer bet that's netted me a couple $9 bonuses to my winnings. (I won one 90 player game outright, and got 6th in another which was a disappointing finish)

Um... what else. I had a pretty decent score in a CardsChat $5, $200 added game a few days ago. We cut a deal near the end where whoever won would agree to pay 3rd place enough to give him 2nd place money. I was in 2nd at the time, but honestly I think I had a substantial advantage, so the deal was more a matter of good will than variance.
I love love looooove short handed play.

Last night I got brutalized in a 90-player last longer game.
Tonight I made a mistake of better every street for half a stack against someone who looked weak. He was weak, with 2nd pair and a not-so-good kicker... but I was bluffing.
It was my bad. Play is terrible at the $2 level and I need to play a different game early on.
That loss of $1,000 in chips got me agitated and then I had what felt like a hundred missed draws which got me more agitated, eventually going out in 41'st... which is bad.

Oh, I also played a $10 DoN and had got sucked out on, raised the short stacked BB all in with 7/7 and he woke up with A/A (I made a 4 flush on the flop, but failed to connect and he rivered a full house), and then I lost to another suckout (K/9s < K/8o AIPF).

I know I shouldn't but I then played a $20 DoN.
I folded every hand up until about hand 18, where I raised UTG with the best hand I'd seen yet (K/Q). The guy on my left shoved on me. Ick. So I had to fold.
After that I folded every single hand until I was pot comitted in the BB. Seriosuly. The two loosest guys at the table were directly on my left, and they were also the only two big stacks. Every time I had a "I'll shove this" thought someone would beat me to the punch and I'd have to fold.
So it came down to me with $220 left after putting in my $200 BB. A fellow shorty (but not so short) shoved and I had my best hand of the night, A/Ks, which more than doubled me up.
Later I shoved from the button with A/J I think and was called by the BB's 4/4 and rivered my J. Whew! That put me 2nd in chips, and I just folded every hand for anothe round and a half before the short stack was all-in in the BB. I woke up with A/J again, and checked down my top pair FTW (for the win).

Anyway, I thought it would be another frustrating session but I got really lucky at the end and hit exactly when I needed to.

I have no plans for poker right now.
I'm still not back into the rings. I'm sorta getting the feel for tournaments again, and I'm enjoying how much play I get for the money invested. I'm also appreciating the kill or be killed nature of it. I like getting it all in, and I love the endgame.

Bah!

I've been doing ok in the micros on FT. The other night I played a couple. In one I shoved with a K/K overpair on the flop and was called by a slow-played A/A and an open-ended straight flush draw. But I hit my King on the turn for the win!
The other people at my table were nits, so I whittled them down with my big stack and plenty of bluffing. When I took first place my VPIP was right at 50%. 50%!

Of course, on the other table I shoved PF with K/K on the flop, was called by K/8 (he paired the 8), and he hit runner runner spades for the flush. Ugh!

Tonight was brutal.
I played two $20 DoN's, losing both due to really cold decks.
I mean, even when I had the nuts I couldn't win:

Then I played a $16.60 game, and got pwned as well. Her I am trying to pot commit the guy, succeeding, and...
